Hello, my name is Lachlan Schofield

I work with adolescents (18+) and adults who are struggling to make sense of difficulties they may be experiencing in relationships, or through life transition. This may result in problematic low mood, anxiety or other mental health or wellbeing problems, which can be difficult to understand.

My main areas of expertise are around relational difficulties at home or work. People may be struggling with the feelings and thoughts generated by these relationships. I also work with people to understand the many challenges of life transition and adjustment, and what can make these more difficult than expected. I have a particular interest in working with people to understand their anxiety, as well as working with anger – often unexpressed.

My therapeutic style is collaborative and thoughtful, taking the time together with people to properly understand presenting issues and concerns and find ways toward emotional growth and a fulfilled and meaningful life. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches, tailoring these to the unique needs of each specific person. I have a particular interest in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and value the importance of therapy as a safe and holding space, where clients deeper thoughts, feelings and fears can emerge. This tends to be medium to longer term work, as we seek to produce deep and lasting change.

I am also an approved AHPRA Supervisor.
