What is VR?
VR is a successful mental health treatment for many conditions including phobias, PTSD, substance related issues, eating disorders and psychoses, and there is an increasing focus on the evidence base for VR treatments for autism, ADHD and OCD.
Who does it help?
VR enables a deeper level of immersion giving the client a better sense of “being there”. For the treatment of anxiety and PTSD, it involves using a VR headset to expose clients to scenarios that may trigger their symptoms all within a controlled and safe environment.
The goal is to condition the client to confront the triggers that precipitate their emotions and feelings and to be able to engage more deeply with treatment.
Benefits
The benefits of VR for clients include the provision of an intimate space that belongs to the client that inspires an introspective mindset, and an increased therapeutic engagement by progressively increasing the depth with each consultation.

Our Psychiatrist, Dr Prashanth Puspanathan, has developed a unique therapeutic framework, based on the principle of helping clients build out a model of their mind in VR. This allows them to visualise the complex workings of their mind by projecting their inner world onto an external 3-dimensional landscape, giving them access to otherwise inaccessible elements of their psyche.
